On The Ballot: Running, Democratic for U.S. House (MO) - District 3
For Presidential and Congressional candidates who refuse to provide voters with their positions, Vote Smart has researched their public records to determine their likely responses. These issue positions are from 2024.
| Pro-choice | Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? | ||
| No | Do you support the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade? | ||
| I trust Americans to make the best decisions regarding the type of healthcare that they need for physical, emotional, and financial security. The government should improve access to healthcare and not limit it. Politicians should never have the power to make personal and private medical decisions for their constituents. | |||
| Yes | Do you support expanding federal funding to support social safety net programs such as Social Security and Medicare? | ||
| No | Do you support a decrease in income taxes in order to balance the budget? | ||
| Yes | Do you support a wealth tax in order to pay for public programs? | ||
| Corporations and billionaires should pay their fair share in taxes. | |||
| Yes | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations, unions, and individuals? | ||
| I support campaign finance reform, overturning Citizen United, and publicly funding elections. | |||
| No | Do you support protecting government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct? | ||
| Yes | Do you support increasing defense spending? | ||
| I believe in increased spending for diplomacy efforts. | |||
| Yes | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth (e.g. grants, tax incentives)? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the federal government increasing funding for affordable housing programs? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the federal government taking action, beyond those of the Federal Reserve, to alleviate inflation? | ||
| I believe that the federal government should address the root causes of inflation, including corporate monopolies, price gouging, supply chain deficiencies, and climate change. | |||
| Yes | Do you support the forgiveness of federal student loan debt? | ||
| I believe that many student loans involved predatory lending practices. Many student loans have been bought and sold to other lenders many times over, artificially inflating their value. Education must be accessible and affordable for every American. | |||
| No | Do you support requiring a government-issued identification in order to vote at the polls? | ||
| Voter ID laws constitute a poll tax. Restrictions on voting or obstacles to vote are antithetical to the idea of government By the People. It should be easier, not harder to cast a vote. I support the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and will advocate for the end of the practice of prison gerrymandering and other types of voter disenfranchisement. | |||
| Yes | Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)? | ||
| No | Do you support the federal government allowing permits for drilling on public lands? | ||
| I am an environmental chemist who has worked in manufacturing, energy, and water infrastructure for the past 14 years. I am uniquely qualified to educate and inform constituents on different ways to secure our energy grid in environmentally friendly ways. I believe that climate change is real and poses an imminent risk to our environment, economy, and public health. I support the transition away from fossil fuels in favor of renewable and expanded energy sources. | |||
| Yes | Do you generally support gun-control legislation (e.g. red flag laws, boyfriend loopholes)? | ||
| I have earned a Gun Sense Candidate distinction from Everytown/Moms Demand Action. I believe in common sense gun legislation. | |||
| Yes | Do you support a government-run (e.g. single-payer) healthcare program, such as Medicare-for-All? | ||
| Yes | Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave benefits (e.g. maternity leave)? | ||
| Yes | Should the government be able to regulate the cost of prescription drugs? | ||
| I support making the child tax credit permanent to eliminate or greatly reduce child poverty. I support expanding paid family leave for all parents. I support Medicare for All and the governments ability to negotiate for better drug prices. | |||
| Yes | Do you support increasing security along the southern US border? | ||
| No | Do you support requiring immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship, regardless of their immigration status? | ||
| I do not support mass deportation or policies that separate families at the border. Immigration issues must be solved by Congress. I believe that technology improvements can assist in quickly processing and matching immigrants with infrastructure or manufacturing jobs that pay a fair wage and help rebuild our economy. I believe in the promise of the American dream, and we should welcome those who want to come to our country to improve their life and build a bright future. | |||
| Yes | Do you support economic intervention as a means of resolving international conflicts? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the US providing increased offensive military aid to Ukraine? | ||
| The U.S. should support the Ukraine and our NATO allies. If Russia wants the war to end, they should get out of the Ukraine and Crimea, and provide restitution for the harm of their senseless war. If we capitulate to Putins demands, Russia will invade Poland and other countries, resulting in American boots on the ground in Europe. We should continue to do everything in our power to help the Ukrainians defend themselves. | |||
| Yes | Do you generally support increased regulations on social media companies (e.g. Tik Tok, Facebook, etc.)? | ||
| I believe in free speech. I do not support manipulated markets or the purposeful dissemination of propaganda or disinformation. No social media company should ever be too big to fail. | |||
| I believe that our water should be clean and free of contaminants like lead and forever chemicals, students should be supported from pre-k to secondary schooling, and healthcare access should be expanded - not limited. My legislative priorities will be to invest in improvements in water infrastructure to protect public health and support clean manufacturing. I will champion universal pre-k along with fully and equitably funded public schools. I will work hard to make sure that the cruel and devastating abortion bans seen in Missouri never become federal law that harms other American families. Medicare for All will go a long way to protect and expand healthcare access and eliminate healthcare as a bargaining chip that corporations can use to suppress American workers. |
